    108/109 YEAR OLD WASHINGTON AND JEFFERSOM COLLECTIBLES FEATURING A PROBABLY UNIQUE MAILED POSTCARD FROM 1912 TOUTING A BIG FOOTBALL SMOKER AT THE FORT PITT HOTEL BEFORE THEY BEAT PITT--- THEY BEAT BOTH PITT AND BUCKNELL AND TIED THE CARLISLE INDIANS IN 1912---ALSO INCLUDED IS THE 1911 WASHINGTON AND JEFFERSON FOOTBALL SCHEDULE WITH GAME SCORES.  .BOTH  COME IN A HARD PLASTIC TOPLOADERS.  THE SCHEDULE AND SMOKER POSTCARD ARE BOTH EX OR CLOSE.  FROM A COLLECTION OF SPORTS MEMORABILIA DATING FROM 1894-1923.  WASHINGTON AND JEFFERSON WAS A SPORTS POWERHOUSE FROM 1890-1929 APPEARING IN THE 1922 ROSE BOWL AFTER AN UNDEFEATED FOOTBALL SEASON AND PLAYING THE UNDEFEATED CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS TO A 0-0 TIE AND CLAIMING PART OF THE 1921 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP UNDER COACH GREASY NEALE.  WASHINGTON  AND JEFFERSON BEAT PITT, SYRACUSE AND OTHERS THAT YEAR.  W& J WOULD REGULARLY BEAT PITT, WVU AND PENN STATE IN ALL SPORTS.  IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL, THEY WERE THE FIRST TEAM EVER TO WEAR #S ON THEIR UNIFORMS, THE LAST TEAM TO PLAY 11 PLAYERS BOTH WAYS FOR AN ENTIRE GAME(1922 ROSE BOWL), THE FIRST TO START A BLACK QUARTERBACK(1922 ROSE BOWL), AND COUNT AMONG THEIR PLAYERS THE FIRST EVER OPENLY PROFESSIONAL PLAYER---JOHN BRAILEE.  FATS HENRY (PRO FOOTBALL HOF) AND DEACON TOWLER BOTH PLAYED FOR THE PRESIDENTS.
