Good condition. The covers are detached from the program, and the back cover is badly torn (see scan 2). The body of the program is bound tightly and is clean and intact. There are light curls on the top and bottom right corners of the covers and pages. The program is oversized, measuring 9" x 11", and the pages appear trimmed in the scans, but they are intact.
1930 Army program -
This is a rare program from the 1930 collegiate football season for a game between the Black Knights of the Hudson and the Illinois Fighting Illini. Yankee Stadium in New York was the venue, which made it virtually a home game for the Cadets. The captains of the two teams are pictured on the front cover - Illinois' Olaf Robinson and Charles Humber of the Army.
The West Point squad posted a 9-1-1 mark for the season, and they posted a shutout in this encounter, 13-0. The Illini finished the campaign with a 3-5 mark. The program has individual photos of the players on both squads as well as some great photos of the Illinois and Army campuses. There's also a terrific aerial photo of Illinois' Memorial Stadium.
The Illini lineup included - Don Munch, Hunter Russell, Gil Berry, Robinson, Mark Swanson and Caslon Bennett.
Army's notables included - Wendell Bowman, Ken Fields, Cyril Letzelter, Ed Herb, Carl Carlmark and Ed Messinger.
