    Description

    Description:
This is the most important individual basketball program in John Wooden-led UCLA Bruins Basketball History.
On March 5, 1949, the USC (University of Southern California) Trojans led by future Basketball Hall of Fame member Bill Sharman and coached by Sam Barry visited the UCLA Bruins at Westwood Men’s Gymnasium aka Men’s Gym aka the B.O. Barn.
At stake was the Southern Division Championship of the PCC (Pacific Coach Conference).
The Bruins won 63-55 before 1300 fans to clinch their very first post-season play-off.
There is no way to know how many of these programs were originally printed as well as sold on that historical day in basketball, but it is certain that few survived and this is only one of two (1/2) examples we have ever even heard of.
Because of the size of the gym, every program from John Wooden’s first season at UCLA is scarce, but one which also pictures the Wizard of Westwood and is still intact from that famous day, is one of the premier Bruins basketball collectibles.
There is a tiny bit of rust on the staples exclusively affecting the inner pages, the very top part of the bottom staple was slightly mis-formed, the program has subtly been folded vertically, there are a couple of micro-nips out of the lower bottom edge near the corner, and a similar bit of micro-paper loss in the upper right corner area on the back page.
Despite these technical notes, the program is in fantastic shape and is entirely unscored with supple pages.
In addition to lots of interesting advertising and a PCC (Pacific Coast Conference) basketball article, there is great biographical information in a half page write-up on John Wooden.
The importance of this game and program cannot be overstated!
