Charming 1752 Antique Sterling Silver Master Salt Cellar simple rounded design to body bead rims raised on 3 legs, multi-layer pad feet by Dougall Ged, Edingburgh silversmith late 18th/early 19th century **We first thought the date stamp was a 'C' (Edinburgh 1859), but Hugh Gordon Assay marks were from the 1750s. The ornate 'X' (Edinburgh 1752) more closely matches this date stamp.** Hallmarks: City of Edinburgh, sterling silver, maker's mark for Dougall Ged, Assay Master mark for Hugh Gordon Edinburgh date stamp 'X' 1752 1.5 inch tall, 2.5 inch across, 81 grams (2.4 troy ounce sterling)
