OFFICIAL LARGE "CASTLE AIR FORCE BASE, CALIFORNIA" CLOTH PATCH

Description

This is an official cloth patch from "CASTLE AFB CALIFORNIA".  The bottom of the patch shows "GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN".
The top shows a crest labeled "SAC" (Strategic Air Command).
The left side shows a crest labeled "93rd BW".
The center of the patch shows an image of California.  It is marked for the cities of Atwater, Merced, and LA and shows a time frame of 1941 to 1995 that was relevant to Castle AFB.
Per Wikipedia, Castle Air Force Base was a former United States Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) base in California that was located northeast of Atwater and northwest of Merced.  It was closed in 1995 pursuant to a Base Realignment and Closure Commission following the end of the Cold War and disestablishment of SAC.  It is now known as the Castle Airport Aviation and Development Center.
The 93rd Bomb Wing was inactivated simultaneously with the closure of Castle AFB, but was subsequently redesignated as the 93d Air Control Wing (93 ACW) and reactivated at Robins AFB, Georgia on 29 January 1996.
The patch has a diameter of about 4.25 inches.
