Set of 2 Bremen German Solid Silver Trencher Salt Bowl with Gold Wash Hallmarked circa 1710
Presented is an elegant set of 2 Neo-classic trencher salt bowl or dishes Hallmarked for silver made in Germany with a makers mark I believe to be for Johan Fayen working in the city of Bremen circa 1710. I have posted a picture of my research on the marks in the photos above. These beautiful pieces have an octagonal profile with a raised base holding shallow gold wash oval bowls. They are in lovely condition with only some pin-prick dings, a beautiful bold letter monogram on the base on one side of S.R V.L and only some fine scratches from gentle use and care.  The last two pictures in the photos above show the marks on both pieces and the research I believe are associated with these marks.
These are great pieces with any number of uses for fine dining from salts to small portion starter or taster to appetizers and are excellent pieces for the collector of fine antique silver.

Marks:
mixed letter mark of what I believe to be JF for silver made in Bremen Germany with a makers mark I believe to be for Johan Fayen circa 1695 - 1726.
Condition
: some pin-prick dings, a period engraved bold letter dedication or monogram, some fine scratches from gentle use and care.
