Up for your consideration is a beautiful
Blue Duchess Basket
Hand Made
by an
Indiana Glass Artisan
for Tiara
Circa 1980
This basket is signed "JD"
The name of the Artisan is Jim Dunlavy
I have found 2 different explanations concerning the
signed baskets. One explanation I found is that Tiara
had the artisan sign/initial them for quality control.
The other,.... the signed baskets were made by the
journeyman glass handlers. The unsigned, Indiana
Glass baskets that have 5 dots in the same location were
made by apprentices. This 2nd explanation makes sense
to me because I have acquired Baskets made by
Indiana Glass that were NOT made for Tiara and they were
signed/initialed. The signed baskets are not as easily found,
which makes them
VERY COLLECTIBLE!
This gorgeous Basket is
approximately 11" x 8" x 10 1/2" tall
It is in good condition!
I washed and inspected this item and
found
No cracks, chips, or repairs!
