SSD Hard Disk enclosure cannot power itself. All power from USB port
You need to make sure your computers USB 3.0 port can provide at least 2A current. Otherwise you must use a supplememtary power supply.
If power is not enough the SSD cannot be recognized or you may see a slow transfer rate.
Apple Retina SSD's needs 3.3V - 2.39A which is clearly marked " 3.3V - 2.39A" on SSD Surface
Indication light:(1)On, no blink - SSD is recognized(2)On, blink - Data transfer(3)Off - no power supply OR SSD is not recognized
