This item is the 1981 Tiara Sandwich Glass "Sandwich Butter & Cover" Hostess Edition. This Teal (blue/green color) edition could only be had by being a Tiara Party Hostess in 1981, and having hosted at least 3 parties.

This Dish with Cover/Lid was produced in Teal in 1981 making this set 40 years old.
Since we are full time RV Treasure Hunters, we come across a lot of interesting items.  This piece is interesting, and we would have bought it anyway, but the history surrounding it makes it worth having, if nothing else,  for the documented story value.
The great actor John Barrymore (that's right,  Drew's grandpa) had a beautiful house over looking the sparkling Pacific Ocean.
We went to the estate sale at his house and it was marvelous.  Great house, great view and of course, great history. Not only because  Barrymore live there, but Tony Scott, the Director, lived there as well.
Oh, what movies did he direct?, you ask.  How about:
    Top Gun
    Beverly Hills Cop II
    Days of Thunder
    The Last Boy Scout
    True Romance
    Crimson Tide
    Enemy of the State
    Man on Fire
    Déjà Vu
    Unstoppable
So we can't really be sure if a Barrymore buttered his toast from this butter dish or if Tony Scott did.
Either way, we personally bought this beautiful, vintage, butter dish from his house. (You can see it on the shelf of the Barrymore bookcase in picture 2.
If there are any major issues or defects, I try to describe them to the best of my ability and as accurately as possible.  Please see the pictures.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.  Thank you for your interest.
